LAW ENFORCEMENT/SAFETY SPECIALIST

NIRMA is expanding its loss prevention and safety efforts by adding a Law Enforcement/Safety Specialist. This person will serve as a resource to member counties providing professional level consulting, training and other assistance on law enforcement and detention management issues. This person will also provide loss prevention services relating to occupational safety and tort liability exposures.
The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of the duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of law enforcement and correctional operations and the policies and skills necessary to effectively manage those operations. Knowledge and experience in the principles and methods of loss prevention, safety, and risk management are also sought. This person must have knowledge and experience relating to the principles and techniques of employee training, must be proficient in the use of personal computers and related software, and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Advanced post-secondary educational training in a law enforcement, criminal justice or related field is highly desirable, as is an occupational health and safety background. A minimum of 7 years experience in a responsible law enforcement-related position is required, along with at least 5 years experience in a law enforcement, detention, or corrections management role. Receipt of or progression toward one or more of the following or similar certifications is also desirable: certified Nebraska law enforcement instructor; ARM; CSP; or ASP. Any combination of education and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Ability and willingness to regularly travel throughout Nebraska, including overnight stays, is required, as is a valid Nebraska driver’s license.
